5 Halloween Scripts for your #FridayReads

in time for Halloween! BlueCat has compiled a list of 5 horror, or horror themed, screenplays for your Friday reading pleasure.

1.) Slither (2006)

James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy) both wrote and directed this sci-fi, horror, comedy genre mashup from 2006. In Slither, a small town is taken over by an alien plague, turning residents into zombies and all forms of mutant monsters. Nathan Fillion, Elizabeth Banks, and Michael Rooker star.

2.) Poltergeist (1982)

Tobe Hooper directed the classic screenplay from Steven Spielberg, Michael Grais, and Mark Victor. A suburban family’s home is invaded by malevolent spirits, kidnapping and possessing a young girl. The Poltergeist was nominated for three Academy Awards.

3.) Frankenweenie (2012)

Tim Burton directed this animated, family-friendly film about a boy, appropriately named Victor, who brings his dog, Sparky, back from the dead. Burton originally developed the idea in the 1980s, and Leonard Ripps wrote a screenplay in 1984. John August updated the script for production in 2012.

4.) Aliens (1986)

James Cameron both wrote and directed the follow up to Ridley Scott’s 1979 hit, Alien. Sigourney Weaver returns as Ellen Ripley, when the planet from Alien is colonized, its inhabitants disappear and Ripley joins a team sent to investigate.

5.) Scream (1996)

The late, great Wes Craven directed Scream, the first film in the popular horror franchise featuring Ghostface. Kevin Williamson wrote the script, and Drew Barrymore, Courtney Cox, Neve Campbell, and David Arquette all gave iconic performances. “Attempting to cope with her mother’s murder, Sydney and her horror movie-obsessed friends are stalked by a murderer who seems to have a hard time letting the past go.”
