Justin Rossbacher – 2025 Feature Screenplay Finalist

Brother

After their parents are murdered, one man must take his physically and cognitively disabled brother on a journey for survival across a post apocalyptic world.

I gravitate toward stories that authentically give visibility, dignity, and empowerment to those who are marginalized. Due to my brother Nathan’s condition of cerebral palsy, I especially feel drawn toward stories of those with physical and cognitive disabilities.

In January 2019, my brother Nathan passed away rather quickly from cancer. I started this screenplay before knowing he was sick. Now, I have created it to process his death and celebrate his life. Though it is fiction, the themes and much of the dialogue are pulled from actual conversations we had.

In addition to writing multiple screenplays, I have co-developed/co-written a sci-fi drama TV show, Beware Miracles, whose pilot was a 2024 Final Draft Big Break Competition finalist.

My current primary goals: direct Brother (and to give it the same level of craftsmanship and authenticity as Past Lives) and to co-showrun Beware Miracles (and for it to become the sci-fi Breaking Bad).
